Detroit Dark Red Beets are deep red and globe shaped. They'll reach 3 inches in diameter but can be harvested as soon as they reach 1in across. The greens are similar to spinach or chard and up to 1/3 of the leaves can be harvested without harming the root. Detroit Dark Red is an especially tender variety that prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade.
