Rosemary Seeds - Heirloom Rosemary Herb Garden Seed Plant Basics: Plant Depth: Surface Germination: 14-28 days Maturity: 180+ days Size: 2-4ft tall, 2-4ft wide Sun: Full sun Rosemary is a very versatile herb that can be grown in garden beds, containers or even indoors. It's a bushy shrub-like plant that's enjoyed for it's flavor as well as for its ornamental value, with long stems and needle-like leaves. This slow-growing perennial fully matures in its second year. Harvest anytime after plant has established. Rosemary is very popular with pollinators and is frequently grown in containers and brought in for the winter months. Growing Instructions: Direct sow: In spring 1-2 weeks after last frost date or threat of frost has passed. Plant seeds surface deep in rows 12-18in apart. Keep soil moist but not overly wet. Start Indoors: Start seeds indoors in spring around 10 or more weeks before last frost date. Planting surface deep in starting mix in container or tray. Cover the container to retain moisture. Place in a warm spot. (Heating mats under plants helps speed up germination time.) After seeds germinate, remove cover and continue to keep soil moist but not overly wet. Grow lights are a good addition at this point, especially if seedlings do not receive a lot of direct sunlight. Keep plants close to grow lights. Move plants to larger containers after they've grown 2 sets of true leaves. At this point, I like to use a tabletop fan pointed at the plants help prepare them for outdoor conditions. About 1-2 weeks before you plan to transplant outdoors, start to harden the plants off by placing them outside. Start in the shade for an hour or two and extend the time each day, gradually exposing them to more sunlight, until they can be left outside for several hours in direct sunlight. Transplant after threat of frost has passed and soil temp is around 60-65 degrees.
